In 1947, operations there were suspended until the Korean War increased the demand for Camp McCoy's services. However, in 1953 the camp was deactivated again. Personnel arriving from unaccompanied overseas duties (such as South Korean posts) will be assigned to a waiting list based on the length of their unaccompanied trip.
